Peter Berner
Hi Everyone!

I'm a  Senior Investment & Insurance Advisor in Cape Town for individuals and businesses, with more of an emphasis towards investment, retirment and retirement income.   I'm also a Corporate Pension Fund Advisor. My background as a stockbroker (in Dallas) and trader  (in my private capacity) help tremendously in managing peoples investment portfolios.   I moved people to cash 6 months before the crash and preserved their capital.   For those of you who didn't take that advice and took losses, now is not the time to get back in to an aggressive stance, if you eventually got out into cash, since I'm expecting another decline in the markets.   Which means you'll take the same losses twice.  For those that remained in all this time, now would be a good time to book profits (20-03-2010) and wait for the market to decline back down to the lower levels.  While timing the market is always tricky, it still remains the best option as opposed to doing nothing, which is what most people do and what the financial industry advocates.  By not managing your investment portfolio in accordance with the economy and what overseas markets and economies are doing, then your portfolio value will essentually just end up see-sawing - instead of getting somewhere meaningful, which is what the whole point of investing is all about.  Every investment has it's season, it's time, therefore timing the market, makes sense.   For awhile it was the technology shares, then it was property, then it was cash...make sense?  It's time for a market pullback and quite possibly down to the previous lows as markets figure out that they've gotten ahead of themselves in relation to the economic data.  Then again, once a bull market is back in place, it's very very difficult to kill and the market will always find ways and means of justifying it.

Here's a list of my accreditations, which is my legal authority on which products I can talk to you on, advise and discuss. If you'd like for me to look at your portfolio, download the consent form
here and get it back to me. Also, what would be really useful to me, would be a personal info questionnaire, which would also help me to generate a quote for you, should you need one.  Get that here.

I use this website to service clients and to make information available for their convenience and of course to acquire new clients.   I've also made articles available for you to read and to educate you on things ranging from kids to the arcane world of investing with recommendations on which funds to switch too and when.   You have to sign up at the bottom of the page for that privilege, it will also automatically subscribe you to our monthly newsletter.  So if you like any of the articles on this website, feel free to call me and discuss them and your situation.  I'll be writing articles to keep you updated on various issues. You can communicate with me through the site and marketing material will be available for you to browse through too. If you'd like for me to write about something, just let me know.   I also try to put out a monthly newsletter, you can subscribe to it on the left menu.

Notice:  Foreigners who want to move their money to safer deposits, not exposed to the banking crisis or the possibility of bank failure, we have money market rates at 7.5% instead of less than 1% (which even if you're wealthy, you can't afford to live on.) and conservative funds giving a 13.5% return.

Also, foreigners who are emigrating to South Africa or moving back to South Africa, we can now move and transfer your pension fund to South Africa into another retirement vehicle from Britain.  There's no tax on the lumpsum brought over in South Africa.   You can access up to 1/3 of your pension fund in cash up to R300,000 tax free and the rest goes into an annuity, which pays out to you month and that is taxed at your marginal tax rate.
